The first day of my time at Business Clan began by being introduced to a few of the people who work there. Everybody was super friendly and welcoming, and they helped me settle in comfortably. I sat in on a debrief for their most recent marketing project, where I was able to get an insight into the level of detail in which every seemingly small thing is evaluated. Despite never having even thought about topics such as marketing previously, I found learning about this completely new subject very interesting. On top of a reminder on how to navigate Excel, I was given an introduction into their CRM, Zoho, used as a database to manage all their current and potential clients.
Throughout the week, I was given the opportunity to speak with multiple members of the HR team, as well as members from other areas of the business, in order to have a chat about their career paths and what their current job entails. I found these talks incredibly helpful and reassuring, allowing me to have a much clearer plan on my future goals than I’ve ever really had before.
I was also able to learn about the process of competitor analysis, something I wasn’t even previously aware of. This included comparing two websites belonging to competing businesses, and picking the keywords used that could potentially give them the edge over the language of their rivals.
Nearing the end of the week, I was able to sit in on the HR team’s weekly meeting – this was the department which I was most interested in. It was a great experience to be able to get an even better idea of the variety of different issues they have to deal with in their day-to-day work, inspiring me to consider thinking about it as a potential career for myself.
Overall, I had a very positive experience at Business Clan. The people were extremely kind and lovely, as well as informative. I really appreciate being given the opportunity to spend a week with everyone.
