A wealth of knowledge from female entrepreneurs
Nicolle attended the Really Helpful Club‘s Back to Business event on 29th September 2016 at Loseley Park, near Guildford. As ever with the Really Helpful Club, Sarah and Caroline had gathered a room full of intelligent and interesting women, who were there to learn about taking their first steps back to work after a career break, be it as an employee or by founding a start-up.
There was advice for both camps from the panel of speakers. For those looking for advice on starting their own businesses, we heard from Maranda and Jen of Property Potential on keeping believing you can do it; Debbie Wosskow OBE of Love Home Swap on needing grit, graft and grace to succeed; Emma Selby from Your Business Hub on setting up your brand and the online tools to help you promote it; and Sylvie Garvey from Computer Fitness on keeping your IT for your start-up simple, separate and safe.
For those taking the first steps back to employment there was encouragement from occupational psychologist, Lucy Standing, on the route to job satisfaction; Sue Carruthers on articulating self-belief and making a personal connection; and communication skills expert and BBC presenter, Jayne Constantinis, on how to grow your own confidence.
The exhibitors (including us!) offered further advice and resources during the breaks and there was the opportunity to share stories and ideas with others throughout the day.
Thank you to The Really Helpful Club for organising this fantastic event – we look forward to the next one!
