“It all began with a phone call. I was a newly freelance PR and marketing consultant and I needed a website to help me promote my new business. A prospective client recommended a great place to get one: “Business Clan”, she said. “They’re in Raynes Park”. (Where’s that?! My first thought). I looked at a map. Hmm, not very convenient for Crouch End – I’m a north of the river girl born and bred.
But nevertheless I liked what I saw on their website and so, on 2nd January 2019, I called the Business Clan office and was soon deep in conversation with Delia. She seemed much more interested in me than the potential new business I had called to discuss. (Odd: my second thought).
She said “Well, actually, I don’t think you need a website at all. I think you should come and work with us”. (Third thought: curiouser and curiouser, have I fallen down a rabbit hole?).
And so it was that on 17th January, a mere two weeks after that first phone call, I found myself in Raynes Park (I know where it is now!) attending my first company meeting and being warmly welcomed by my multi-talented new colleagues.
As it turns out, the fact that I’m based north of the river is one of the reasons why Delia thought I may be a useful addition to the Business Clan team. Plus my experience working in PR and media relations complements the existing marketing team’s skills and the services Business Clan offers their clients.
There are two key elements to my new role: to introduce businesses in north and central London to the many benefits of working with Business Clan (time to start networking!) and to put my PR and marketing skills to good use, helping Business Clan’s existing clients to get their businesses noticed and grow.
I have already hit the ground running attending networking events in my local area and talking to prospective clients.
(Fourth thought: I definitely made the right decision!).”
