Year 10 Kingston Academy student writes about her time with us
I had the pleasure of spending my Year 10 work experience placement with the team at Business Clan in Raynes Park. My week began with a warm welcome and an insight into marketing as I sat in on their weekly team meeting.
Over the week, the tech team gave me an understanding of their CRM, Zoho, and website development tool, WordPress, which significantly improved my IT skills. WordPress is an amazing software and I am eager to continue learning more and familiarise myself with it further.
Naomi and Delia generously gave their time to talk to me about their career paths in HR and business strategy respectively, but so much more besides! Naomi told me about the importance of managing Employer – Employee relations alongside a strong driving work ethic. Just getting to know your employees as proper people can provide a better environment for everyone to work stress-free in. It was also truly helpful to understand from Delia that when transferring between industries, fundamental skills (communication, logical and critical thinking, planning and organizing, IT skills etc.) are always at the forefront when pushing oneself forward to the next step.
Working with children at a local primary school coding club, which Business Clan runs, helped to develop my teaching skills and to appreciate the children’s coding strengths. Nicolle gave me a great chance to experience a prospective client meeting, which was incredibly useful as she showcased the level of communication and detail needed when two businesses work together.
I can happily state that my time at Business Clan has been a tremendous experience and I am truly grateful for such a wonderful opportunity.
