Despite our head office being in Merton, we were pleased to be invited to enter the Professional Services category at the Kingston Borough Business Awards by the Chief Executive of Kingston Chamber of Commerce, Forbes Low, in recognition of the work that we do for businesses across the borough. We were delighted to be shortlisted as one of four finalists. Although we were not the winners on the night, we had a delightful evening celebrating with the brightest and the best businesses in the borough.
Congratulations to our accountancy team who were finalists in the British Accountancy Awards in the Independent Firm of the Year category for Greater London. The application process required us to demonstrate how we add significant value to our clients across all service areas and how we are fundamental in enabling our clients to achieve their business goals. Winning FSB Employer of the Year for the London area gave us the opportunity to win a national award at the grand final which took place in a glittering ceremony staged at the Westminster Park Plaza in London on 3 May 2018. We beat 11 businesses from every region of the UK to be crowned FSB UK Employer of the Year. The judges commented that we have “A strong ethos of playing to everyone’s strengths and collective expertise”. We achieved this success by investing in, developing and retaining our flexible-working team of “women-returners”.
The FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards showcase business achievements and celebrate the hard work, brilliance and innovation of businesses within different geographical areas of the UK. We won Employer of the Year for the London area and now have the opportunity to win a national award at the grand final which will take place in a glittering ceremony staged at the Westminster Park Plaza in London on 3 May 2018. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
These awards highlight the work being done behind the scenes by business advisers, professionals, coaches and mentors to help Britain’s army of small businesses to build and grow. We were delighted when our application led Delia to be shortlisted in the Top 50. After a public vote she was named as one of the final ten and winner of the IT & Web category. We were thrilled to be winners for the second year running at the Merton Best Business awards. This time we lifted the trophy for Team Development. This category allowed us to demonstrate how we promote equality and diversity and how it impacts on our business. The judges commented that we are “A young business set up and growing with equality and diversity at its heart”
We were delighted to be finalists in the 2017 Federation of Small Business London awards in the Best Professional Services category. The awards ceremony was held at the Emirates Stadium at the end of July. We didn’t win but it was a great opportunity to meet other amazing businesses and to celebrate and share everyone’s success.
For the second year running, we were finalists in the Best New Business category for the Merton Best Business awards. As we were up against strong competition, we were aiming for runner-up, but we surprised ourselves and brought home the trophy! We were utterly delighted on Thursday 28th July 2016, when the judging panel from the FSB London awards decided we were their Best New Business for 2016. We are very proud of our hardworking, talented team.
Spencer Tagg, the managing director of the category sponsor, Wenta commented, “This is the second year Wenta have sponsored the London FSB Awards and the quality of those entering has increased year on year. The award for ‘Best New Business’ which went to Business Clan, reflected their ability to demonstrate a clear vision and passion for their new business.”
Following on from our success in reaching the Merton Best Business finals in 2015, we decided to spread our wings and enter other awards. We were delighted to be finalists for Start-Up Of The Year in the mumandworking awards, a UK-wide competition which champions flexible working. Nearly a year to the day that Delia founded Business Clan, we decided to enter the Best New Business category in Merton’s Best Business Awards. To our delight we got through to the finals which was a fantastic boost for team morale. Our very first award!
